Frequently-Asked Questions

May I bring a camera?
You are welcome to bring a camera along, but do so at your own risk. Cameras must be stowed for landings.

How many people can ride in the balloon?
Our balloons can carry up to four average weight passengers at once, plus the pilot.

How long is the flight?
The actual flight lasts approximately one hour and the evening flights are concluded with complimentary champagne, soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

What time should I arrive?
We ask you to meet us at The Balloon Loft one half hour prior to our scheduled departure time.

What sort of person enjoys ballooning?
Ballooning is a great "equalizer." We have witnessed happy faces from 4 to 94. Teenagers, business persons, retired persons and everyone in between! The real common denominator seems that everyone appears to really enjoy life and have a curiosity for new experiences.

What special occasions have you witnessed?
Over the years our balloon flights have celebrated birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, retirement and almost 50 marriage proposals!!

If I am afraid of heights could I enjoy a balloon flight?
Absolutely! In fact most of our passengers have some fear of heights. Strangely enough there is no feeling like that of being on the edge of a tall building or the feeling you get on a Ferris wheel. Ballooning is calm, almost serene. If you can handle an airline flight, you will probably really enjoy ballooning.

What should I wear?
We recommend that you dress as if you were going for a hike. The temperature during the flight is basically the same as it is on the ground. Most of the flight will be below 1,000 ft., and the temperature is only 3 degrees cooler even at that altitude.

Please do not wear sandals or open toed shoes. Athletic shoes and socks are perfect.

The propane burner system which creates the heat for our “hot air” balloon is located above your head. If you are tall or, like me, are “follically impared,” wearing a baseball cap will make you much happier!

Are gratuities for the chase crew appropriate?
Gratuities are always appreciated but certainly not expected---it is completely up to you.
